Hey Jude.

I know that this is the fourth or fifth or sixth endorsement, BUT it is so far beyond the latter covers that many of you might be speaking of, I think it stands in a class by itself...

And, as an early era sort, I am willing to take ALL the blame for the worst of the worst.

Do any of you that span the whole thirty yrs think that one of the many Beatles tunes they did in the 80s or 90s was in fact worse than HJude? I am just asking, cause that is SO bad in my book...I have only heard a few of the post 82 ones, so I am just guessing...

go find the BLACKBIRD cover they did from some show, in, I think, 1988.

you find a worse piece of crap than that and i'll put a viola lee blues of your choice on a 24-hour loop and listen til my head explodes ;-)

Hmmm--without having heard it, I can see it (hear it?)...that just doesn't seem right.

Funny though, about covers, GC, cause who woulda thunk beforehand that Jimi's Watchtower would be so much more powerful? Or that Jack White's Jolene would so eclipse DParton's? (which truth be told, I think is great too...).

So, you can never tell with covers in terms of those you think should NEVER be done, and those that somehow do it better...if you follow.

Patti Smith also covered Jolene, but only at live shows... :)

The other thing about this gig is that it features one of the few appearances of believe It Or Not, a song that was quickly dropped and I thank them for it. From the first time I heard it I felt the song didn't flow and Garcia could not hit the vocals. My other beef is that it is clearly a Gomorrah rip off. However, many people on the site love this song- to each his own I guess.
